Windows 10 will be free for software pirates

Windows 10 will be a free upgrade for Windows 7 and Windows 8 users this summer, but Microsoft is also extending its offer to software pirates. "We are upgrading all qualified PCs, genuine and non-genuine, to Windows 10," says Terry Myerson, Microsoft’s Windows chief, in an interview with Reuters.

Windows Phone 8.1 Update 2 lets you pin settings and use Bluetooth keyboards

Microsoft hasn't officially announced Windows Phone 8.1 Update 2, but it appears the new update will ship on the recently announced Lumia 640 and Lumia 640 XL devices.Windows Central has confirmed that Microsoft has tweaked the way settings work in Update 2, with a list that's organized by categories. It's not quite as cleaned up as Windows 10, but it does break the various settings into sections, and there's even an option to pin individual settings to the home screen.

Windows 10 Set To Offer USB 3.1 Type-C

It looks as though Microsoft has resurrected their WinHec conference, and with the agenda having already gone live, the event would open up new insights into Windows 10, which would be Microsoft’s upcoming unified operating system version. Apparently, in one of the sessions that are being held at WinHec would be known as ‘Enabling New USB Connectivity Scenarios in Windows 10′.

Windows 10 is coming to all Windows 8.1 devices later this year

Microsoft has revealed that the full Windows 10 suite will be made available across all Windows 8.1 devices from later this year.

File sharing service Infinit’s Windows app exits

Peer-to-peer file sharing service Infinit has launched its free Windows app today, which allows users to share files of any size. While the beta version was already available to users, the revamped tool is more stable and adds sharing options in the native right-click menu.

Microsoft: High-End Lumia Windows Smartphones w/ Snapdragon 810s Incoming

New flagship Windows Phone devices should help revive Windows' market share in the high-end smartphone space

Microsoft Corp. (MSFT) had some successes to be grateful for in Q4 2014, growing sales of its Lumia smartphones to a record 10.5 million units.  But much of that volume was driven by low end models like the Lumia 530 and Lumia 630/635; Microsoft's sales have slowed on the mid-range and high-end markets.  The key reason for this slowdown is a lack of internationally available product.  Indeed Microsoft had no clear flagship device in late 2014 that could keep up with Android OEMs hardware-wise.
