GM, or golden master, refers to the final copy of a piece
of software that is ready for a public release. The GM candidate build will
likely be one of the last releases before Yosemite is officially unveiled to
the public.
Apple announced Yosemite at WWDC,
and the new version of the OS includes a brand new look and
feel, as well as slew of new features.
These features include tight-integration with iOS 8 with
features such as Handoff and Continuity, which will allow users to make phone
calls and send and receive SMS messages on their iPhone, through a Mac. Other
features include a redesigned Spotlight, a brand new version of iTunes and
major enhancements to the Messages app.
For this OS X release, Apple created a public beta for OS X
Yosemite, giving non-developers a chance to try out the new OS
before its final release.
With
any luck, the full OS X Yosemite public release will only be a few weeks away.Source: mashable.com
