LinkedIn Extends Self-Service Profile Widget To College And University Sites, No LinkedIn Visit Required

LinkedIn — a social network for the working world — has been taking several steps to build up its profile with educational institutions and specifically students that are making their way from the classroom into the workplace. Today comes the latest chapter in that strategy: LinkedIn’s self-service widget — where people can add qualifications to their LinkedIn profiles without actually visiting LinkedIn — will now appear on websites for colleges and universities.

LinkedIn to pay premium users a measly $1 for leaking their passwords

0224_linkedinPassword leaks are horrible for users. For companies, they’re an embarrassment and sometimes they lead to legal action. LinkedIn was part of such a lawsuit and today Ars Technica reports that it settled that suit and the affected users will each get about $1.
