With the help
of Spike was carried out the attack, the traffic of which reached 215 Gbit / s.
As the senior vice president of Akamai Scholl Stewart
(Stuart Scholly) said, this summer, the company's specialists had
discovered a
large-scale of multi-vector DDoS-attacks, carried out with the help of several
botnets under Spike control. This DDoS-package is designed to build botnets of devices and platforms,
which have not been used for such purposes. Scholl said about this in the
security blank, published on the website of the subsidiary Akamai - Prolexic.
Not it is obvious that pike was used to carry out
attacks on several sites in Asia and the United States. In one of them was used a huge multi-vector network,
generating traffic with a total of 215 Gb / s and the speed of 150 million
packets per second.
Spike has a a wide arsenal to implement DDoS-attacks.
The malware can load sites with infrastructure and applications, generate
garbage traffic SYN, UDP and GET, and create unnecessary stress through
DNS-queries. DDoS-package running on a PC running OS Windows, but is also
capable of infecting Linux- and ARM-devices, which later become participants in
a botnet. Note that the risk are even devices "Internet of Things".
