Greek Tragedy as Apple App Store, iTunes, PayPal and more stop working

The ongoing Greek debt crisis has an unusual victim. While the referendum poll on whether Greece should accept the bailout terms or not takes place tomorrow, citizens have woken up to the harsh reality when restrictions imposed on the use of their credit and debit cards have made them unusable for minor payments as low as a Euro to purchase songs or make online payments.

How private is your email? Not very

Privacy has been a hot issue in recent years partially due to recent revelations with the NSA and spying concerns. A common question I get asked since I’m working on an e-mail startup myself is, “How private are my emails?” and “Can others read my emails?”
The short answer: Your emails aren’t really that private and yes, technically people are able to read your emails.

Apple patches security flaws with new versions of iOS, OS X

Apple has packed patches for dozens of security flaws into the new versions of its iOS and OS X operating systems.
The company noted Tuesday in a security advisory that just-released version 8.4 of the iOS mobile operating system contains more than 20 fixes for vulnerabilities that could lead to remote code execution, application termination and the interception of encrypted traffic, among other issues.

DOJ investigates ATF official in possible data breach

An executive at the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) headquarters is under investigation by the Department of Justice (DOJ) for allegedly improperly accessing and downloading ATF employee data.

After a recent report from security company NowSecure detailed a vulnerability that potentially affects more than 600 million Samsung smartphones, Samsung announced a fix that should be coming in "a few days" for some devices.

Google’s App Engine For PHP Hits General Availability

Google’s App Engine for PHP is now out of beta and generally available on the company’s platform as a service offering. This means PHP apps are now covered by Google’s App Engine service level agreement and deprecation policy.
