The public in China will soon be able to withdraw cash from automatic teller machines that identify users through facial recognition technology, according to Chinese media.

The machines, developed by Chinese institutes including the Hangzhou Hi-tech Industry Development Zone, have been certified for use by the public, according to reports by state broadcaster China Central Television and Hangzhou Daily.
The machines work by capturing an image of the user's face and matching it with the photo on their identification cards.

The machines also allow currency exchanges, according to the reports.
